Christmas in Topsail… Topsail is in North Carolina. I spent the Christmas holidays in a beach house that sleep 30 people. Talk about a big family. The weather was pretty decent. It was nice to get away from the freezing cold in Baltimore and dc for a while. Of course it is always nice to see family again as well. We really had a great time.
Lets see ..List of activities we did without ever leaving the beach house….
My Dad, sister and I made dinner- hmm who is ready for gourmet burgers I know I am.. Anything from cheese to avocado to bacon, mushrooms, onions, salsa, shrimp, lettuce, tomato, ketchup, mustard, bbq sauce, jalapenos, pickles, and I think I left out a couple. Of course these were a big hit. Who doesn’t like a good old burger. Yummy! Did I mention 5 different type of rolls.. gotta have choices.. they were bomb!
White Party- Hmmm.. If you’re not in all white, don’t even bother showing up. If your name isn’t on the list you may as well go home. This is a tradition thrown my my aunt evey year when we get together for Christmas. Everyone is required to dress in all white and black if you want, and basically we eat, drink, dance and finish off the night with a little karaoke. Now we had a spread of wings, drinks, cheese and crackers, meatballs, chicken salad and much much more.. We just sit around and talk and laugh and dance for as long as we want. After a while ( after the drinks have settled in..lol) its time for karaoke. Now first round.. you have no song choice.. just go with the flow.. this of course leads to things like a 9 and 10 year old boy singing “ This S#@$ is Bananas by gwen Stefani… Hilarious. And of course the Anderson sisters have to do a rendition of whatever is on their hearts.. man that is always funny!
Dirty Santa- A game that is always fun no matter what the gifts are.. there are an allotted number of gifts and everyone picks a number. The person with number 1 picks first.. then the person with number 2 can pick a gift or take the number 1 gift.. and so on and so on.. needless to say there are more girls then guys.. so funny things happen.. like my dad ending up with a red polka dot apron and a snuggie.. or my uncle ending up with perfume and girly lotion.. lots of laughs for sure!
Game Night- Girls are smarter than boys.. Need I say more. We killed the boys in a little game called guesstures… HAHA we are so good at acting. The score was… well we will spare them the score reminder.. all they need to know is that we one.. after a while of beating them so bad we just decided to have a little fun. This of course leads to my uncles acting out words such as belly dancer.. woah that’s one for the ages!
Once again another great Christmas.. the sunrise and sunset was beautiful everyday and the beach was just an added back drop to a wonderful time spent with family!
